The band’s eight-day Vietnam tour is being arranged through a cultural program sponsored by the U.S. Consulate General in HCMC.
The Amigos are dedicated to performing and creating American music through the traditions of collaboration and improvisation. In 2012-2013 the band had more than 40 concerts in New York City schools, hospitals, and community centers as part of the famous Lincoln Center’s outreach program.
They are currently recording an album in collaboration with the iconic New York composer and musician of the “beat generation,” David Amram, for release in spring of 2014.
The American Music Abroad (AMA) is a people-to-people cultural exchange program designed to communicate America’s musical contributions and diverse culture to the global music scene.
The U.S. Department of State’s Bureau of Educational and Cultural Affairs has partnered with American Voices to engage with people across the world through AMA exchanges. The Amigos performances will take place from 8:45 p.m. to 9:45 p.m. on April 13 at the Western Stage of Thai Hoa Palace, Imperial Citadel, Hue; from 10 a.m. to 11 a.m. on April 14 at Hue Central Hospital, 16 Le Loi, Hue; and from 2 p.m. to 3 p.m. on April 14 at the Youth Center of Hue, 57 Lam Hoang Street, Hue.
