VinaPhone has reportedly kept pace for signing up new mobile subscribers since 2009 raising the number of total subscribers generating revenue for the mobile operator to 35 million by the end of 2010.
The operator earned revenue of VND28.1 trillion ($1.4 billion) in 2010, a year-on-year increase of 37.2 per cent against the figure in 2009. Value-added services revenue accounted for 21 per cent of the total revenue.
The revenue of VinaPhone accounted for nearly 28 per cent of its parent VNPT Group’s total revenue in 2010. The network was expanded with total 22,000 base transceiver stations, enabling the network to serve additional 30 million users.
VinaPhone is aiming to serve over 40 million activated mobile subscribers this year along with promoting internet mobility services through its 3G network along with boosting the investment for its 3G network.
Ho Duc Thang, VinaPhone vice director, said the company succeeded in keeping growth rate pace and maintained as one of the leading position in Vietnam’s mobile market last year.
