This morning, reporters and editors of Vietnam Investment Review had the opportunity to listen to The New York Times reporter Leslie Wayne shared her experience about ways to handle information sources to develop business news articles.

Leslie Wayne is currently the professor of the adjunct faculty of New York University and Columbia Journalism School before which she worked for 29 years as a full-time reporter at The New York Times.

Previously, in 2013-2014, she was part of an international consortium of investigative journalists who conducted a major investigation into tax evasion via Luxembourg that drew international response and the award-winning reporting on corruption, tax havens, and offshore financing.

Wayne shared with VIR's reporters and editors about the current position of The New York Times in the US media industry as well as its target to expand operations outside the country.

Wayne also shared real-life experiences at the newspaper in maintaining the stable distribution of the printed publication, while simultaneously increasing readership of the online version.

Besides, she gave an insight into the pressing competition between the printed and online editions of The New York Times as well as the competition with other media agencies. What's more, she shared the secrets that helped The New York Times to maintain stable readership volumes.

She said that The New York Times makes an effort to listen to comments from readers to complete the content as well as the design of their publications.

Wayne's lecture took place in the framework of the annual training course held by VIR in collaboration with the Vetnam Journalists Association to improve the skills of VIR staff.
