Diageo Vietnam donates computers

Stephane Gripon, general manager of Diageo Vietnam, said: “The computers will give handicapped persons, members of DRD,  an effective tool to support their working and studying to improve their knowledge and income, hence to improve their living quality.”

 “Diageo Vietnam would like to promote equality for handicapped by offering them an opportunity to interact with technology, to enhance their knowledge. So, they could eliminate all social barriers and quickly integrate to society,” said Gripon.

 “Disabled people are the disadvantaged in society. Although, they have received much attention from government, they still face many difficulties in social integration. As such, it is encouraged companies actively provide practical supports that help handicapped to exposure their potentials and intermingle to society,” said DRD’s director Vo Thi Hoang Yen.

Diageo Vietnam has deployed many meaningful CSR activities, for instance, the Saigon Hospitality Program which provides underprivileged individuals with vocational skills in bartending, enabling them to find work and be independent in life.

Diageo Vietnam has  funded the building of 10 homes for poor families and a boarding primary school for children in Ninh Thuan province.

In early 2011, Diageo Vietnam launched a water  project and donated the systems supply water treated with ultra-violet technology to 24 schools in Ninh Thuan, estimated given access to clean water to 12,000 students.

Besides that, Diageo Vietnam has been heavily  involved in the development of policies on alcohol abuse prevention, responsible drinking, anti-counterfeit initiatives. Recently, the company sponsored a $12,000 “Bus Driver” project within the framework of “The global actions on harmful drink” and deployed the International Center of Alcohol Policies and Directorate for roads of Vietnam.
