According to a report published by the Vietnam Automobile Manufacturers’ Association (VAMA), the total sales of automobiles in April were 21,942, including 10,705 passenger cars, 9,562 commercial vehicles, and 1,675 special-purpose vehicles. The whole industry includes VAMA members and non-members.

From the beginning of the year to the end of April 2017, total car sales of the whole industry increased by 1 per cent compared to the same period last year. In particular, passenger cars increased by 10 per cent, commercial and special-purpose vehicles decreased by 8 and 18 per cent, as specified in the chart below.
In April, the volume of complete knock-down (CKD) automobiles sold was 16,453, a decrease of 10 per cent, and that of the imported complete built up (CBU) units were 5,489, a decrease of 35 per cent compared to last month. Sales of passenger cars declined by 36 per cent, commercial vehicles increased by 15 per cent, and special-purpose vehicles declined by 6 per cent compared to last month.
