Vietnamese business held back by techno-limitations
According to the World Economic Forum’s (WEF) 2014 report, Vietnam’s technology level ranked 99th out of the 144 examined countries. The World Bank’s “Review of Science, Technology and Innovation in Vietnam”, published at the end of 2014, also showed that the scientific and technological systems of Vietnam were still weak. This is a warning about the urgency of reforming and implementing new technologies in businesses.
Besides, due to being technologically impaired, lots of enterprises have missed opportunities to take part in foreign-funded investments. According to the World Bank’s report, the limitations on engineering and technology can lead to poor performance, unstable productivity, and therefore, constrains enterprises’ competitiveness. In other words, in several circumstances, engineering and technology are the barriers for Vietnamese businesses to reach out to the world market. In order to enhance the competitiveness of enterprises in particular, and the country in general, innovation in technology is a must.
Currently, many Vietnamese enterprises are expressing interest in implementing modern technology, such as the Cloud and Big Data, to manage their operations and process customers’ data. The Big Data and Cloud are continuously considered as valuable tools to improve performance, reduce costs, enhance security, and control the businesses simply yet effectively. However, it is undeniable that a lot of companies are still utterly confused about how to approach or apply these technologies in their business operations.
