The 21st annual Asia-Oceania Tax Consultants Association (AOTCA) conference was held in Vietnam for the first time on October 16-18.

The event was hosted by the Vietnam Tax Consultants’ Association with support from the Ministry of Finance and General Department of Taxation and it was an opportunity for relevant parties to exchange information and experiences with tax policies, management, and consultancy.

It brought together 300 senior tax experts from around the world including Austria, the UK, Australia, China, Japan, South Korea, Hong Kong, Singapore, and Malaysia.

Vietnam took the conference as an opportunity to introduce its international partners to its economic and financial reforms, particularly in the areas of policy and management, investment incentives, and measures to reduce and prevent fraud.

According to AOTCA chairman Thomas Lee, the conference highlighted cooperation and support between tax professionals throughout Asia-Oceania.

Vietnam Tax Consultants’ Association (VTCA) president Nguyen Thi Cuc said the conference hit on major financial and tax policy issues and gave the Ministry of Finance and other authorities a chance to talk about Vietnam’s socio-economic development and international integration.

VTCA joined AOTCA in 2008 as an observer and became a full member in 2009.

AOTCA was established in 1992 with the aim of developing regional tax agents in accordance with global trend, offering and broadening opportunities for exchanging information, knowledge on tax system, tax management, tax consultant system, and market trend.

AOTCA was established in 1992 with the aim of developing international standard regional tax agents, improving information exchange, and educating on different tax systems.
