VALC revs its engines

Vietnam Aircraft Leasing Joint Stock Company yesterday signed its first contract with the International Aero Engines (IAE) to buy 20 V2500 Select One engines.


The foreign partner will provide engines for ten A321 airplanes which will be delivered to Vietnam from 2012 and 2013.

This is part of the deal that Vietnam Aircraft Leasing Joint Stock Company (VALC) implemented in its deal with Airbus to provide more aircraft for leasing to Vietnam Airlines.

Of which, a $2.5 billion deal will see 10 Airbus A321-200s delivered during 2012-2013 and eight Boeing B787, worth $1.42 billion, delivered in 2016. These aircraft will meet 20 per cent of Vietnam Airline's fleet expansion during the next 10 years.

VALC has firstly delivered its four ATR 72-500 aircraft to Vietnam Airlines this year, the last ATR aircraft will be delivered by the end of this month.

IAE is a multinational aero engine consortium whose shareholders comprise Pratt & Whitney, Rolls-Royce, the Japanese Aero Engines Corporation and MTU Aero Engines.
