USG Boral innovates construction industry

Established in early 2014, USG Boral was formed via a 50/50 joint venture between Australia’s Boral Limited and the US’ USG Corporation. With around 3,500 employees, USG Boral is a leading manufacturer and supplier of gypsum board-based wall and ceiling lining systems, mineral fibre acoustic ceiling systems, metal framing, joint compounds, high-performance panels and accessories throughout Asia, Australia and the Middle East.

In 2011 the company announced an additional $20 million investment for its new line, which was completed this year, bringing the USG Boral plasterboard factory in Ho Chi Minh City to the total capacity of more than 40 million square metres of plasterboard per year. The firm also has another office and warehouse in Hanoi, as well as representatives in major cities throughout the country and a staff of about 200 employees.

“Besides technological improvements that drive major quality improvements, we have more than tripled our local capacity this year with the addition of a new manufacturing line, allowing us to operate the largest and most modern plasterboard factory in the country to better serve the Vietnamese market,” said Gregory Lukasik, general manager of USG Boral Vietnam. “We are also the only plant producing technical boards in Vietnam and will continue to roll out new and innovative products.”

USG Boral ceiling and drywall solutions are already utilised in several iconic buildings and developments in Vietnam such as the Vietcombank Tower and SC VivoCity Mall in Ho Chi Minh City, the National Assembly House, JW Marriott Hanoi Hotel and Noi Bai International Airport’s Terminal 2 in Hanoi.

“Vietnam is one of the world’s highest growth construction markets, thanks to the shift away from traditional building systems and there is a huge demand for modern ceiling solutions and drywall systems. What we can offer are game-changing technologies and expertise, a diverse product portfolio and a strong distribution and solutions network in the region,” Lukasik said.
