TMV is also presenting the 16 schools, located in Ho Chi Minh City, Can Tho City, Danang City, Hanoi, Vinh city, with 16 gearboxes of Camry, Corolla and Vios cars to assist in their teaching.
“TMV always believes in young students who are valuable property for the company and society. Besides, human resources development is the best way to develop a sustainable society. Thus we always focus on education and training. In the future, we will continue to improve this programme,” said Yoshihisa Maruta, president of TMV and TVF, at the ceremony on January 24 to award the scholarships to students from nine schools in the north of Vietnam.
He also said TMV desired to expand and start new CSR activities, focusing on traffic safety, education, sports and culture.
TVF was established in October 2005 by TMV, with cooperation from the Ministry of Education and Training and the Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism, with the initial fund of $4 million to support socio-cultural exchange, education and training and the development of human resources in Vietnam.
Besides giving scholarships to technical and environment students, the foundation also gives scholarships to music students. The “Toyota Scholarship for Vietnamese young music talents” has offered 560 scholarships since 2009 for excellent students of five musical universities/colleges nationwide. TVF also holds annual programmes to teach traffic safety to primary pupils.
According to the company, since its establishment in 1995, TMV has contributed more than $19 million to social activities in Vietnam.
