Put-through value suddenly soared on Ho Chi Minh Stock Exchange (HoSE) Monday, but the market remained sluggish.

The value reached VND343 billion ($16.6 million) on the HoSE today, making up half the southern bourse’s total liquidity of VND724.9 billion ($35.2 million).

Among them, some VND100 billion ($4.83 million) worth of Eximbank (EIB) and VND150 billion ($7.2 million) worth of Sacombank (STB) shares were negotiated.

Meanwhile, the market stayed sluggish with increasingly low matching values and big selling pressure. Total matching value of the two bourses reduced to just VND551.9 billion ($26.7 million) today.

Without support from put-through transactions, Hanoi Stock Exchange (HNX) liquidity fell to 26.2 million shares worth VND182.3 billion ($8.8 million).

The stock market again sunk into red. Kinh Bac City Development Share Holding Corp. (KBC) and Tan Tao Investment Industry Corp. (ITA) both turned head to hit the floor. Matching value of ITA strongly reduced to just 1.8 million shares.

Real-estate pennies Vietnam Electricity Construction (VNE), Hoang Quan Consulting- Trading-Service Real Estate Corp. (HQC), Sao Mai Construction Corp. (ASM) lost 2-3 per cent each.

Real-estate tickets also fell the most on HNX, among them Petro Vietnam Construction (PVX), FLC Group (FLC), PetroVietnam-Nghe An Construction (PVA), SongDa Infrastructure Construction (SDH) saw biggest selling pressure.

Mineral stocks Binh Thuan Mineral Industry (KSA), Nari Hamico Minerals (KSS), Lao Cai Mineral Exploitation & Processing (LCM) fell 3-4 per cent, while Duong Hieu Trading and Mining (DHM) still hit the ceiling.

Whereas, large-cap stocks helped the market reduce its falling momentum today. Vinamilk (VNM) led the gainers as it advanced 2.26 per cent to VND136,000. Phu Nhuan Jewelry (PNJ) advanced 2.9 per cent. Some financial stocks included Bao Viet Holdings (BVH), Vietinbank (CTG) also significantly rose.

Half the southern bourses ended down, namely 150 stocks were off and 74 were up. The benchmark VN-Index shed 1.23 points or 0.31 per cent to 397.00 points.

Decliners outran advancers 131 to 55 on HNX. Some 210 stocks were unchanged. The benchmark HNX-Index closed at 54.35 points, down 0.39 points or 0.71 per cent.
