Prime Minister Nguyen Tan Dung will pay his first official visit to Japan in his capacity as premier of the nation to meet with his counterpart Prime Minister Shinzo Abe in an effort to discuss further measures to promote strategic partnerships.

All signs point to a profitable partnership

PM Dung will leave for the ‘Land of the Rising Sun’ on October 18. He will pay his respects to the Emperor and Empress of Japan and meet with PM Abe the following day.
The Vietnamese premier will also be the first foreign guest of newly elected Japanese PM Abe, said Vietnam’s Foreign Ministry spokesman Le Dung at a regular press briefing.
Daisuke Matsunaga, charge d’affaires ad interim of the Japanese Embassy, at a press conference last week, said: “This is going to be a good occasion for the two PMs to confirm Japan and Vietnam’s recognition of each other as very important partners.”
Representatives of Vietnamese businesses, who have been invited along on the PM’s tour will hold meetings and dialogues with Japanese enterprises.
“Contacts and dialogues of business communities of Vietnam and Japan are very positive things to promote mutual understanding,” Matsunaga said.
Business representatives who will accompany PM Dung come from various industrial and service sectors such as post and telecommunication, oil and gas, electricity, coal and mineral, ship building, garment and textile, airlines, and banking, said Doan Van Kien, general director of the Vietnam National Coal-Mineral Industries Group and head of the business delegation.
Vietnamese businesses were very active in finding new partners and markets and their trip to Japan with PM Dung would be a very good chance for them to promote investment and business relations with Japanese partners, Kien said.
