Leading German violinist to perform at next Friday’s concert

The concert will feature masterpieces Bach’s Sonata for Violin and Harpsichord in E Major; Mozart Sonata for Violin and Piano No. 18, K301 in G Major and Brahms Sonata for Violin and Piano No. 3 in E Minor.

Dr. Felix Olschofka has toured as soloist, concertmaster and chamber musician throughout Europe, Asia, North America, and South America. He is also a co-founder of SWARMIUS, a multi-faceted contemporary music ensemble that has performed extensively across the U.S. and Europe throughout the past six years in New York City, Los Angeles, Portland, San Francisco, San Diego, Philadelphia, Miami, Berlin, Hamburg, Stockholm, Ljubljana, and Venice. Olschofka has premiered numerous contemporary works for violin solo and violin along with live electronics.

He holds a Bachelor and Master’s degree from the Music Conservatory “Hanns Eisler” in Berlin (Germany), a Performance Certificate from Indiana University, Bloomington, and a Doctorate from the University of California San Diego, combining the best of both cultural worlds in his performing and teaching.

Pianist Eva Joo Eun Young is currently a lecturer of Master’s programs at the HCMC Conservatory of Music. She graduated with distinction from the Vienna State Conservatory in 2000. In 2007 she got a doctoral degree with the highest mark from the Gnessin Russian Academy of Music.

She has won numerous prestigious awards at the Erika Chary Foerder Competition in Vienna (2000), the International Music Festival Competition “Allegro Vivo” in Vienna (2001) and the Korean Piano Society Competition (2002). She has given many solo recitals in Seoul, Europe, the U.S., and Vietnam. Every year, she participated in the KFE charity concert with Vietnam Red Cross to help disabled people from Vietnam’s war. Her first CD album, recorded in Abbey Road Studios in London, was released in September 2008. She made many recordings for HTV, VTC10, and Tuoi Tre TV in Vietnam.
