KPMG in Vietnam was named the “Vietnam Tax Firm of the Year” at the International Tax Review’s 2010 Asia Tax Awards ceremony in Singapore late last month.

“This is an excellent achievement by the firm, and an award that all of our professionals are extremely proud of,” said Warrick Cleine, CEO and managing partner of KPMG’s tax practice in Vietnam.

KPMG’s tax practice in Vietnam has grown dramatically over recent years and employs over 170 tax professionals in Hanoi and Ho Chi Minh City.

“We have built a strong reputation in the market, assisting many of the leading companies in Vietnam to comply with their tax obligations, especially in emerging areas such as transfer pricing, or specialist industries such as banking and finance,” said Cleine.

“As Vietnam continues to attract new investors, M&A activity increases, and the tax authorities become more sophisticated and targeted in their tax collection activities, demand for KPMG’s professional services grows.  We will continue to invest in our team in order to meet market demand.”

The Asia Tax Awards, determined by the International Tax Review’s editorial team in London, in consultation with tax executives in the region, recognises the leading law and accounting practices in the region and are awarded to firms that demonstrate excellence, including innovation and an ability to deal with complexity and strength in depth in each category. The International Tax Review is recognised as one of the world’s leading publications on international tax, providing international news and updates, surveys and interviews with leading tax directors and officials around the world.
