Key stocks fail to light the fire

Kinh Bac City Development Share Holding Corp. (KBC) turned head to hit the ceiling on the news that the chairman Dang Thanh Tam, also a National Assembly Deputy, came back to join National Assembly plenary session. Tam was given permission to be absent some days ago due to health reasons.

Also, Tan Tao Investment Industry Corp. (ITA) hit the ceiling and outperformed the market with 2.6 million shares matched.

Meanwhile, Saigon Commercial Real Estate (SCR) continued having huge trading volume. Nearly 11 million SCR shares were negotiated today.

However, the movements of a number of active stocks could not help the market rally from a lackluster sentiment.

Matching value reduced non-stop, reaching only VND183.9 billion ($8.9 million) on the Ho Chi Minh Stock Exchange (HoSE) today. The Hanoi Stock Exchange (HNX) fell to VND89.3 billion ($4.3 million).

Put-through transactions helped HoSE’s liquidity reach 29.8 million shares worth VND454.3 billion ($21.9 million) and HNX’s liquidity reached 27.5 million shares worth VND186.6 billion ($9 million).

The market fluctuated with advancers and decliners running nearly even on the HoSE, with 98 up and 96 off. Decliners outran advancers 88 to 68 on HNX.

A number of speculative stocks kept advancing, among them mineral stocks Bac Giang Exploitable Mineral (BGM), Lao Cai Mineral Exploitation & Processing (LCM), Binh Thuan Mineral Industry (KSA) and Nari Hamico Minerals (KSS) the most active.

Numerous real estate tickets dipped in red rhythm today.

Meanwhile, banking shares did not change much. Vietcombank (VCB) slightly shed, Military Bank (MBB) climbed, while Vietinbank (CTG), Sacombank (STB), Asia Commercial Bank (ACB), Saigon-Hanoi Bank (SHB), Eximbank (EIB) were unchanged.

At the close, the VN-Index shed 0.34 points or 0.09 per cent to 391.36 points on HoSE. HNX-Index slipped 0.15 points or 0.28 per cent to 53.64 points.
