Jackie Chan was conferred the Panglima Mahkota Wilayah, which carries the title Datuk, at a ceremony on Sunday (Feb 1) in conjunction with Federal Territory Day.

KUALA LUMPUR: Action superstar Jackie Chan was conferred the Panglima Mahkota Wilayah, which carries the title Datuk, at a ceremony on Sunday (Feb 1), reported Malaysian media.

Chan was addressed by the name Chan Song Kang during the ceremony, which was held in conjunction with Federal Territory Day. His real name is Chan Kong Sang.

Many attendees were surprised when the superstar turned up in a suit and black songkok (a traditional cap) to receive his Datukship at the event.

Chan is best known for his films like Rush Hour and Police Story. He is set to visit Singapore from Feb 9 to 11 to promote his new film Dragon Blade with his co-stars John Cusack, Adrien Brody, Choi Siwon, Lin Peng and Wang Ruo Xin.
