HoSE hits the floor

Liquidity tumbled to a two-year record low on the Ho Chi Minh Stock Exchange Tuesday and the benchmark continued its falling trend amid macroeconomics uncertainties.

Meanwhile, matching volumes reached 12.6 million shares on the northern bourse – the lowest level since early 2009. Put-through volumes also reduced to 3.7 million shares. Total trading volumes reached 16.7 million shares worth VND275 billion ($13.3 million).

Sacombank (STB) was active with as low as 662,000 units changing hands. Saigon Securities Inc. (SSI) followed with just 625,000 units traded.

The benchmark VN-Index lost 5.65 points or 1.36 per cent to 410.12 points, after a mass of blue-chips strongly dropped.

Masan Group (MSN) led the droppers hitting the floor. Vincom Corp. (VIC) shed 1.61 per cent to VND122,000.

Hoang Anh Gia Lai (HAG), PetroVietnam Finance (PVF) and Bao Viet Holding all significantly fell. Meanwhile, large-cap stocks like Saigon Securities Inc. (SSI), PetroVietnam Drilling and Well Services (PVD), Sacombank (STB) massively ended lower.

Some other gained, among them Eximbank (EIB), PetroVietnam Fertilizers (DPM), Vietinbank (CTG) and FPT Corp. (FPT), but the gains were just very modest.

Just 66 stocks advanced on the main bourse, while 148 declined and 82 were unchanged.

Of the same situation, Hanoi Stock Exchange’s (HNX) HNX-Index lost 0.28 points or 0.39 per cent to 70.74 points. Decliners overwhelmed advancers 154 to 77 on the bourse, while up to 90 stocks having no transactions.

Trading volumes also strongly declined to 19 million shares worth VND192.42 billion ($9.3 million).

However, some major stocks slightly rose on HNX, among them Kim Long Securities (KLS), Vietnam Construction and Import-Export (VCG) and Asia Commercial Bank (ACB). Ocean Hospitality and Service (OCH) significantly advanced 2.82 per cent.

Bao Viet Securities (BVS), PetroVietnam Northern Gas (PVG), PetroVietnam Construction (PVX) and Sacomreal modestly fell.

PVX outperformed the market with more than 1.8 million shares traded.
