From 11 commodity groups, the highest growth in the month was seen in food and restaurant services with 0.81 per cent, in which the price of food increased by 4.56 per cent over the previous month.
Three commodities saw a price decrease including housing, power and fuel with 0.36 per cent, while post and telecommunications dropped 0.21 per cent and entertainment 0.5 per cent.
Seven groups saw slight month-on-month increase.
According to the department, rice saw the highest rise of 5.72 per cent, beef increased 2.3 per cent, processed seafood increased 1.74 per cent, fruits and vegetables increased 4.87 per cent, butter and milk increased 0.55 per cent.
Meanwhile, some commodities posted fall in CPI such as pork decreased 3.15 per cent, chicken decreased 0.33 per cent, duck decreased 0.89 per cent, eggs decreased 0.72 per cent, fresh seafood decreased 0.95 per cent and fruits decreased 1.32 per cent.
The average CPI in the first 11 months of this year increased 15.14 per cent compared to the average level during the same period last year. Food items increased an average 22.92 per cent year on year.
The average CPI increase was 9.04 per cent year on year in January-November 2010.
Excluded in the calculation was the price of gold in November which increased 0.09 per cent and 26.38 per cent over the year and the US dollar which increased 0.68 per cent on month and 0.75 per cent on year.
In a bid to curb the rise of CPI and contribute to improving the living standards of the people, city authorities directed agencies to stabilize prices in 2011, particularly during the coming Lunar New Year.
