BERLIN: Around 630,000 Audi, Mercedes, Opel, Porsche and Volkswagen cars are to be recalled in Europe owing to irregularities in their emissions values, a German government source told AFP on Friday (Apr 22).
The German makers have decided to recall the vehicles following an investigation launched in the wake of the Volkswagen engine-rigging scandal.
Presenting the findings of the investigation later on Friday, German Transport Minister Alexander Dobrindt said irregularities were found in a total of 16 car brands.
Besides German brands Volkswagen, Audi, Mercedes, Opel and Porsche, as well as France's Renault, "other manufacturers (affected) are ... Alfa Romeo, Chevrolet, Dacia, Fiat, Hyundai, Jaguar, Jeep, Land Rover, Nissan and Suzuki," said Dobrindt.
