Foreigners muscle up trading

Ho Chi Minh Stock Exchange’s (HoSE) VN-Index advanced 2.83 points or 0.75 per cent to 382.1 points, the largest gain in three recent weeks.

Also, Hanoi Stock Exchange’s (HNX) HNX-Index climbed 0.45 points or 0.88 per cent to 51.49 points.

Liquidity also improved, with matching value reaching VND260 billion ($12.5 million) on HoSE and rising to VND131.6 billion ($6.3 million) on HNX. Put-through value was modest, reaching VND122.6 billion ($5.9 million) and VND131.6 billion ($6.3 million) on two bourses respectively.

Green expanded on the market. Up to 134 stocks advanced, outrunning 67 declining and 70 unchanged.

Several large-cap stocks turned head to rally supporting the market. Vietcombank (VCB) significantly gained thanks to foreigners’ buying. Tan Tao Investment Industry Corp. (ITA) also advanced on foreigners’ demand.

Besides, blue-chips Masan Group (MSN), Bao Viet Holdings (BVH), FPT Corp. (FPT), Vinamilk (VNM) also climbed.

Numerous mid-cap stocks in producing sector were in demand today, among them Hau Giang Pharmaceuticals (DHG), Southern Rubber Industry (CSM). Mineral stock also largely rallied.

Real-estate tickers were active, led by Tan Tao Investment Industry Corp. (ITA) with 2.2 million shares matched. Ocean Group (OGC) and Sacom Development and Investment Corp. (SAM) followed with 1.7 million shares and 1.4 million shares respectively.

Banking stocks stayed lackluster with Vietinbank (CTG) reducing 1.56 per cent, Eximbank (EIB), Military Bank (MBB) and Sacombank (STB) unchanged. Vietcombank (VCB) hiked 2.57 per cent.

On HNX, 149 stocks gained compared with 47 off and 62 unchanged. Sentiment rallied on the northern bourse, with leading sentiment tickers like Saigon-Hanoi Bank (SHB), Asia Commercial Bank (ACB), Kim Long Securities (KLS), Bao Viet Securities (BVS), VNDirect Securities (VND), PetroVietnam Construction (PVX) accelerated or even hit the ceiling.
