Foreign and domestic enterprises are showing great interest in Quang Ngai province. Japan’s Marubeni Group and Vietracimex underscored the potential by recently agreeing they wanted to invest in the province’s seaport, paper and property sectors.

“Marubeni Group is interested in investing in the Dung Quat II seaport and develop it to become the third biggest seaport in the country,” said Quang Ngai Planning and Investment Department  director Tran Van Nhan.

Nhan said Dung Quat seaport was nearly overloaded and the construction of the Dung Quat II seaport would help attract more foreign and domestic enterprises to Quang Ngai.

Vietracimex, under the Ministry of Transport, also wants to pour $379 million into building a pulp plant with the capacity of 25,0000 tonnes of pulp per year and a high-end hotel and resort complex near Quang Ngai’s beaches.

Home to one of Vietnam’s most beautiful beaches and two world cultural heritage sites, Hoi An ancient town and My Son ruins, Quang Nam is also a golden place for investors to build luxurious resorts.

According to the provincial Department of Planning and Investment, only Indochina Land’s golf course, Kim Vinh resort and Hoi An Service, Construction and Investment Company’s Trendy projects have been put into operation during the past 16 months.

The province’s People’s Committee Chairman Nguyen Xuan Hue said Quang Ngai welcomed Vietracimex and Marubeni’s plans and would create the best possible conditions for the investors to put their projects into action as soon as possible.
