Emerson drops curtain on Haiphong plan

Big American group Emerson Network Power is looking to prosper in Haiphong.

Haiphong People’s Committee chairman Duong Anh Dien received the firm’s vice president Georgi Foo, who came to the northern port city to source investment opportunities recently.

During talks with the city leaders, the vice president unveiled the group’s plan to build a plant in the city’s Trang Due Industrial Zone (IZ) to make telephone spare parts. Construction of the plant would be kicked-off in May, 2011.

Dien confirmed the city would roll out the red carpet to welcome investors, including those from the US.

In respect to Trang Due IZ, the city was stepping up efforts to improve its policies and infrastructure to assist investors, Diep added.

Emerson Network Power specialises in different kinds of phone and computer batteries and holds 40 per cent of the world’s market share for products of this kind.
