CPA Australia celebrates new members and fellows in Vietnam

CPA Australia held its annual certificate presentation ceremony for new members and fellows in Vietnam on October 25 in Hanoi and 27 in Ho Chi Minh City.

The ceremonies were attended by Minister and Deputy Head of the Australian Mission to Vietnam, Layton Pike and the Australian Consul-General in Ho Chi Minh City, Karen Laynon, representatives from the Ministry of Finance, the State Audit Office of Vietnam, senior leaders from local professional bodies, including the Vietnam Association of Certified Public Accountants (VACPA), the Vietnam Association of Accountants and Auditors (VAA) and the Vietnam Tax Consultants' Association (VTCA), global and local accounting and auditing firms, major universities and hundreds of new and existing CPA and FCPA members.

Adam Awty, chief operating officer of CPA Australia awarded certificates to more than 100 new members in both in Hanoi and Ho Chi Minh City.

“The number of candidates advancing to CPA status in Vietnam has significantly increased over the past few years and there are now more than 800 members across the country,” he said. “Our success in Vietnam can be attributed to the strong support from the Vietnamese government our recognised employer partners, local professional bodies, and local universities. We expect to continue to grow strongly in the years to come, given the increasing demand for accountants and auditors in Vietnam and our strong investment in the local market.”

“The CPA designation is recognised throughout the world and represents financial, accounting, and business advisory professionals of the highest calibre and training. I am looking forward to seeing our members’ on-going, positive contribution to the Vietnamese business community,” Awty added.

CPA Australia also presented certificates to its 16 new Recognised Employer Partners (REP) in Vietnam.

“In becoming recognised employers, these organisations have undergone a comprehensive assessment and validation of their professional development, and in doing so, they demonstrated a genuine and on-going commitment to best practice learning and development. CPA Australia now has more than 400 REPs across the globe,” Awty said.
