Aligned with the strategic vision outlined in Vietnam's National Action Plan to transform the food system towards transparency, responsibility, and sustainability, the Sustainable Food Forum 2023 was a collaborative effort between the Foodshare sustainable food development network and the Association for Food Transparency.
This prestigious gathering took place in Ho Chi Minh City on October 12, and held significant importance as part of a series of events commemorating the 43rd anniversary of World Food Day.
Le Nhat Thuy, vice president of C.P. Vietnam, delved into the complex food dynamics within Vietnam and across the globe, accentuating the conscientious endeavours undertaken by businesses to combat food wastage and losses while spearheading sustainable agricultural practices.
"C.P. Group's sustainable development is based on the company's philosophy of three benefits, including those for the country, for the people, and for the company," Thuy said.
"Economic development goals always go hand-in-hand with sustainable development, driven by the three main pillars of food security, natural balance, and a self-sufficient society, aiming to eradicate hunger and food waste."
She said that C.P. Vietnam has also set a target of reducing emissions by 2050, implementing net-zero to balance the ecosystem, maintaining biodiversity, and turning waste from the production process into valuable products.

The 2023 Sustainable Food Forum was followed by the Ceremony Honouring Initiatives and Efforts to Develop Sustainable Food (Food Hero Awards 2023). This event served to recognise and applaud the unwavering commitment of individuals, groups, and businesses who have tirelessly championed the cause of food value enhancement for the community.
C.P. Vietnam's Donation Fund was granted an esteemed accolade, acknowledging its contributions that have significantly impacted public health, nutrition, and food security in recent years, particularly during the height of the COVID-19 pandemic.
At the heart of the ceremony, Sooksunt Jiumjaiswanglerg, vice chairman of the CPFoods' Executive Committee, was bestowed with the illustrious Lifetime Contribution Award. This honour celebrates his exceptional efforts in collaborating with farmers to advance the agricultural industry, enhance food quality, and augment nutritional resources derived from animal protein for the Vietnamese people.
"The younger generation should clearly know their roles and responsibilities. They must have short-term orientations and long-term plans, be ethical in business, and demonstrate fairness in their work. These are our company's core values; be ethical, honest, and grateful," he said.
