ABB Hanoi plant in the company's 20 year anniversary

ABB’s presence in Vietnam is based on its pioneering Hanoi transformer plant and the more recent international-standard high and medium voltage component manufacturing plant in Bac Ninh.

Since its establishment in 1994, the ABB transformer factory in Hanoi has grown from a distribution transformer manufacturing plant into an integrated facility, which is the focused transformer factory of ABB Group. It   has developed a reputation for employing cost-effective green technology. It produces transformers that meet international environmental standards and utilise environmentally-friendly biodegradable and non-hazardous oil substitutes.

The plant now operates using world class manufacturing facilities and has developed a strong reputation in the Asia Pacific, Middle East and African markets.

The combined plants manufacture 10MVA, voltage up to 36kVdistribution transformers and small 10 to 63MVA, voltage up to 171kV power transformers.

The high and medium voltage component manufacturing plant in Bac Ninh was put into operation in 2010. The factory provides hi-tech core components for high voltage circuit breakers and other HV components for distribution to ABB factories worldwide. The plant was recently upgraded through the installation of a gas insulation system (GIS) production line and operates as a GIS provider to other ABB facilities throughout the world. Featured high voltage products include the ABBACUS Metal Enclosed Capacitor Bank (MECB), the new higher performance SF6-free IMB current transformer for 72-362 kV, and the disconnecting circuit breaker.

Axel Kalt, country manager of ABB Vietnam delivers speech at the company's event

The power product medium voltage (PPMV) factory provides a wide range of medium voltage switchgear solutions, in collaboration with other ABB switchgear factories around the world. Combining the expertise of the medium and low voltage switchgear businesses, customised solutions are developed for integrating switchgear and related equipment into modular transportable switch rooms. These options provide significantly shorter on-site installation times, lower associated site costs and lower risks to ensure start-ups meet their  schedule.

ABB in Vietnam has a strong installation capability and top-quality consultancy services. ‘One-stop’ equipment provision makes it easy to supply power stations, utilities and contractors, guaranteeing ease of use and complete compatibility.

With its proven track record and international-standard equipment during its two decades of operations, ABB in Vietnam has enhanced the completion of key infrastructure projects, incluing Phu My Thermal Power Plant (1996), the Hai Van Tunnel (2005), Uong Bi Thermal Power Plant (2007), Dung Quat Oil Refinery (2007), Tri An Hydro Power Plant (2008) and Nui Phao Mining (2012-2013). ABB in Vietnam offers a dedicated and competent team of professional sales, service and engineering expertise in support of its range of systems and products across a vast array of different economic fields.

ABB’s successs in Vietnam is based on the a bedrock of well-trained and dedicated staff, and cutting-edge technology.
