According to Lê Bá Long, head of the Drug Crime Investigation Department of the provincial Border Guard Command, a transnational drug ring was detected transporting drugs from Udomxay Province to Mường Mày District in Phoong Sa Ly Province of Laos, and then selling them in Việt Nam’s Điện Biên Province.
Two suspects were found to be travelling from Mường May District to Việt Nam’s Tây Trang border gate in Điện Biên Province. One of them, named Cư Chăn Ly, was arrested while in possession of 24,000 amphetamine pills, while the other escaped. The detained suspect, a Lao national, born in 1996, said he and the other suspect bought the drugs and intended to sell them in Việt Nam, according to the police.
The case is under further investigation.
