Thai VietJet, Vietnam’s first joint-venture airline with Thailand, has plans to launch scheduled flights between Bangkok and central Vietnam after a number of successful chartered flights between the two destinations.

The airline unveiled the plan after it conducted two more return flights from Bangkok to Hue City last week and on June 1 to transport hundreds of Thai tourists to the central city of Vietnam.

Thai VietJet said the demand of Thais to travel to central Vietnam is huge. The airline conducted many chartered flights from Bangkok to Hue and Danang City earlier this year.

A representative of Thai VietJet said the positive feedback from travel agents and passengers has encouraged the carrier to arrange more flights between Bangkok and central Vietnam.

In addition, the carrier is planning to launch scheduled flights connecting Bangkok and the region to cash in on rising demand for air travel between these destinations.

“We are now working closely with competent authorities and travel agents on the project and hopes it will be able to offer scheduled services in the near future,” the representative said.

VietJetAir and its affiliate Thai VietJet are also in cooperation for developing travel products and services that will benefit its clients and enhance the market development of Vietnam and Thailand and other countries.

Thai VietJet was established in Bangkok in late 2014. The airline started to operate chartered flights between Bangkok and central Vietnam following its successful debut flights between Bangkok and India during the last Lunar New Year holiday.

Jetstar Pacific launches two new air routes

Jetstar Pacific Airlines on June 1 commenced a new air link between Hanoi and the Central Highlands resort city of Dalat and another between Hanoi and Phu Quoc Island off mainland Kien Giang Province.

The low-cost carrier operates daily flights between Hanoi and Dalat with an average flying time of one hour and 50 minutes. Its aircraft departs from Noi Bai International Airport in Hanoi at 7:15 a.m. and from Lien Khuong Airport in Dalat City at 9:40 a.m.

Jetstar Pacific said it would fly daily between Hanoi and Phu Quoc until September 6 to meet the soaring demand for summer air travel. This service takes off at Noi Bai at 3:45 p.m. and Phu Quoc at 6:35 p.m. with a flying time of two hours and ten minutes.

Le Hong Ha, chief executive officer of Jetstar Pacific, said occupancy of the first flights on the two new routes on June 1 reached 90%. Moreover, 20,000 passengers have booked tickets for flights on the two routes in the coming months.

Last Sunday, the airline took delivery of one more Airbus A320 aircraft, bringing its fleet to 11 Airbus A320s and A321s.

Jetstar Pacific now conducts flights on 25 domestic and international routes. It plans to get more planes for new air services in the coming time.
