Tech Mahindra hopes to be part of Vietnam’s IT transformation

India-based information technology service company Tech Mahindra today (March 04) opened its first Vietnamese office in Hanoi three years after first setting foot in the country.

Tech Mahindra, which builds and tests software for banking, manufacturing and retail, manage data centers for companies and do mechanical engineering and design, geographical information systems, has been present in Vietnam since 2012. So far, the company has served many banks including the State Bank of Vietnam and Vietinbank.

“Vietnam is a growing economy. Mobile, smartphone and internet penetration in Vietnam is increasing, and many companies want to become digital so we feel that we can do a lot of work in the digital area,” said senior vice president for Asia Pacific, India, Middle East & Africa Rohit Gandhi.

Tech Mahindra and Vietnamese partners expect to hire at least 100 people in the next two or three years and turn Vietnam into a regional hub from which it can serve customers in other countries, such as Japan and Hong Kong.

“The next three years is going to be very exciting for information technology services. We want to be part of that journey,” he said.

Tech Mahindra is present in 51 countries, including 10 in Asia-Pacific. It is part of the Mahindra Group, a $16.5 billion multinational group based in Mumbai, India that employs more than 180,000 people in over 100 countries.
