The move aims to lift the cooperation between HUST and Siemens to the next level |
As part of this MoU, the university (HUST) will consider Siemens as a technology partner and mobilise Siemens’ knowledge and experience in the development of its Digital Factory Lab, while Siemens is committed to providing HUST with state-of-the-art technology so as to enable this leading technical university to sustain its world class quality in education and training, as well as to empower the next generation of digital talent for Vietnam.
The collaboration between HUST and Siemens dates back to 1996, which is only three years after the establishment of Siemens’ official operations in Vietnam.
In that year, Siemens helped HUST to establish an Automation Training Centre, and since then has donated HUST a range of automation equipment and different kinds of software products.
Siemens has also been supporting HUST in training kits, curriculum development, technical workshops for teachers and students, career talks, and many more areas.
As the Industry 4.0 is around the corner, both parties have decided to ink a Memorandum of Understanding to lift the co-operation to the next level.
As mutually agreed, Siemens and HUST will strengthen co-operation in the establishment of HUST’s Digital Factory Lab.
In detail, Siemens will consult HUST about training equipment and software to be established in the Lab, and also provide support in practical training at the facility.
Siemens will offer HUST the automation and drive equipment and software package, the Product Lifecycle Management (PLM) license, and associated items of Industry 4.0 education and training programme at a special discount rate.
Besides, Siemens will organise workshops with HUST to provide the latest updates on Industry 4.0 technology and relevant training courses.
In particular, Siemens will grant 200 Solid Edge 3D CAD licenses to HUST with the commercial value of about $30,000 each. Solid Edge software is an intuitive product development platform for accelerating all aspects of product creation, including 3D design, simulation, visualiation, manufacturing, and design management.
Last but not least, Siemens will support HUST in the development of its curricula and of a tailor-made “Train-the-Trainer” course to help HUST sustain its world-class quality in education and training in the digital age.
“Hanoi University of Science and Technology is pleased to partner with a global corporation that is on the leading edge of digital technology. This partnership will enable us to meet the utmost needs of enhancing our education and training system, especially in the era of Industry 4.0,” said Hoang Minh Son, HUST president.
“Education is the key to sustainable development. Siemens has been a strong supporter of young generation education and training worldwide. And today, through our partnership with HUST, we are very proud that we can help to empower the next generation of digital talent in Vietnam,” said Thai Lai Pham, president and CEO of Siemens Vietnam.
