Lazada celebrates third anniversary in Vietnam

Lazada Vietnam, part of Lazada Group which operates Southeast Asia’s number one online shopping and selling destination, is celebrating its third anniversary with the milestone of half a million customers, more than 200 million visits.

These figures reflect customers' trust in Lazada's shopping experience, affirming Lazada's leading position in Vietnam’s e-commerce industry.

Lazada Group has seen rapid growth since its launch in March 2012. The company now has over 4,000 employees across the region and has raised approximately EUR520 million in funding from leading sector specialists and investors including Temasek, Tesco, JP Morgan, Kinnevik and Rocket Internet, among others.

Lazada Vietnam has grown along with the group and has achieved several remarkable milestones, with the company’s growth in 2014 five times greater than that in 2013, and increasing its range of products to 300,000 across 13 categories.

By continuing to focus on developing a marketplace platform that supports brands and merchants, the company reached approximately 1500 sellers by the end of 2014 who were supported by over 1,000 employees within the company.

Lazada Vietnam’s growth is also a result of its rapid assortment expansion driven by its unique position to provide brands and merchants simple, fast and direct access to all consumers throughout the country via one retail channel. The number of sellers on the marketplace platform, which now accounts for approximately 65 per cent of overall sales, crossed 10,000 in December 2014.

Addressing the logistical challenges in the region, Lazada is investing heavily to develop its infrastructure. The company now has two warehouses in Hanoi and Ho Chi Minh City, and a dedicated Lazada Express last mile delivery fleet with 17 hubs covering 14 cities in Vietnam.

In addition, Lazada Vietnam has partnered with express transport and courier companies across the region to provide customers with quick and reliable delivery.

Consumers can expect exciting offers during the company’s upcoming third birthday sales from 24 to 26 March, with flash sales 10 per cent and super discounts across all product categories.

On this occasion, Lazada Vietnam is also announcing new strategic partnerships with big players such as FPT, Lingo, Sony, Philips, and Samsonite.

This movement reflects Lazada’s efforts in growing its product range and providing the best shopping experience to consumers.

Additionally, the company demonstrates its appreciation for close partners through its “Lazada's Awards”, with categories such as Trusted Brand (Samsung, Luminarc, LG, Viettel), Best Sale Brands (Hnam Mobile, Vichy), and Best Logistics (VNPT).
