In the recent past, Big C Thang Long Company Limited (EBT), Big C An Lac Limited (EBA) and Big C Dong Nai Limited (EBD) were named among Vietnam’s top 1,000 contributors in 2012.
Accordingly, EBT ranked 133rd, EBA 145th and EBD 227th. In respect to retail and supermarket business, EBT was in the second place, EBA in the third and EBD in the sixth place. This was the third year these firms carved names among the country’s top taxpayers.
The rating of Vietnam’s top 1,000 taxpayers (V1000) was compiled by Vietnam Report JSC (Vietnam Report) in cooperation with the General Department of Taxation’s (GDT) Tax magazine and newswire Vietnamnet to honour leading businesses in tax contribution and their proper attitudes towards tax obligations.
Earlier, in mid-2012 EBA and EBG got certificates of merit from the GDT to appreciate organisations and individuals property handling their tax obligations in 2011 hosted by Ho Chi Minh City Tax Department.
Businesses under Big C have made noticeable contributions to the state coffers over the past couple of years. Big C’s first business contributed to state coffers starting from 2006, since then the tax amount from Big C system to the state budget rose constantly.
Big C operates under the ‘megamart store’ or ‘trade centre’ model which is being deployed by its parent company Casino Group globally. Casino is a global leading retail group with 307,000 employees working at 12,000 branch offices around the world.
Vietnam is home to a total of 21 Big C supermarkets throughout the country with over 8,000 employees, each offering over 40,000 items in which made in Vietnam products account for around 95 per cent.
