Leading anaesthesiology experts and doctors gathered at VSA's seminar to update on the newest medical practices

On this occasion, JVC partnered up with Fujifilm to introduce the SonoSite portable ultrasound technology.

The seminar attracted the attendance of a great number of experts and doctors from VSA, Vietnamese Society of Emergency Medicine, Viet Duc Hospital’s Centre for Anaesthesiology and Surgical Recovery, and representatives from the Departments of Health and hospitals. Especially, Prof. Dr Nguyen Quoc Kinh (Vice President of VSA) and Dr Hung Nguyen (Department of Anaesthesia - Emergency, Sister of Mercy Hospital, Austria) delivered useful presentations about updates on ultrasound applications in anaesthesia and intensive care.

Ultrasound is a non-invasive imaging technique commonly used in medical diagnosis that uses ultrasound (high frequency sound waves) to reflect the internal structure of the body. It is one of the most popular imaging methods in Vietnam and around the world, granting clinicians with objective vision, and thus giving out accurate diagnoses.

"Ultrasound is one of the most important methods that allows physicians to visualise the internal organs of the body, which is especially important for emergencies and location determination in anaesthesia, leading to more accurate diagnoses as well better anaesthesia performance to avoid possible errors. We believe that with updated knowledge and advanced technologies, ultrasound applications will further assist doctors in the implementation of their expertise," said Dr Hung Nguyen.

In the seminar, Fujifilm also officially introduced the SonoSite handheld ultrasound machine through JVC, the official distributor in Vietnam. This compact, handy ultrasound machine is equipped with Fujifilm’s most advanced technologies for sharp and accurate diagnostic images. Four SonoSite models were introduced at the seminar.

SonoSite M-Turbo is Fujifilm’s globally-known ultrasound machine. It delivers striking, high-resolution image quality at every picture element and clear tissue delineation which allows clinicians to visualize detailed structures, vessels, and pathology. It is also a versatile ultrasonic system for the application of abdominal, nerve, vascular, cardiac, venous access, pelvic, and superficial imaging.

SonoSiteEgle IIfeatures DirectClear Technology, a novel, patent-pending process that is available on select transducers. DirectClear elevates transducer performance by increasing penetration and contrast resolution. This contributes to an unsurpassed imaging experience for the bedside clinician. Edge II features a reinforced probe with a steel cover and a wide-angle monitor coated with an anti-reflection layer for minimising image alteration at different angles.

SonoSite SII, like SonoSiteEgle II, features DirectClear Technology, which elevates probe efficiency by increasing the penetration of the probe and the image contrast. Additionally, it is equipped with a touch screen user interface with a clinician-driven menu and other functions to drive performance optimisation.

SonoSite iViz is superlight and was specially designed for one-handed operation. The 7’ high resolution screen, easy-to-use interface, and multitasking probe, among other features, help deliver more accurate assessments. Particularly, thanks to Wi-Fi and Bluetooth integration, iViz allows users to diagnose by means of remote medical solutions based on a cloud computing platform, seamlessly access patient information, and send reports to the electronic medical record (EMR).

Dr Cong Quyet Thang, Chairman of VSA, stressed the benefits of ultrasonography

Speaking at the seminar, Prof. Dr Cong Quyet Thang, chairman of VSA, emphasised the importance of ultrasonography in anaesthesia and intensive care: "Thanks to advanced ultrasound applications, physicians will be better supported in anaesthesia and intensive care, which help patients get the appropriate treatment and reduce risks that may occur during the treatment process. The workshop, with useful updated information, will positively contribute to raising awareness about ultrasound applications supporting the early diagnosis of diseases, and allowing patients to access better healthcare services.”
