On March 10, the Ministry of Finance, the Vietnamese Embassy in Indonesia, and Ciputra Group jointly organised the business dialogue "Vietnam and Indonesia: Partnership for Progress and Prosperity" in Jakarta. A number of corporations between the two countries signed and exchanged cooperation agreements.
VinFast signed an MoU with Bank Negara Indonesia on comprehensive strategic cooperation on green transformation solutions and long-term green finance sources. Meanwhile, Sovico inked an MoU with Ciputra Group on cooperation in developing real estate projects, smart urban areas, industrial parks, logistics centres, and trade-service areas in Vietnam and Indonesia.
In the technology sector, FPT Software signed a Master Service Agreement with Indonesia's KMP Aryadhana Wisesa, Yogyakarta Sultanate, on cooperation in applying AI, blockchain, and Internet of Things to drive digital transformation and green transformation for waste treatment, productivity improvement, and education projects.
FPT Software and Pertamina also entered into cooperation to apply AI in the digital transformation of the Indonesian national oil and gas group PT Pertamina (Persero). Another MoU between FPT IS and Metrodata Electronics is about the establishment of FPT Metrodata Indonesia on cybersecurity services.
Meanwhile, Mobile World Group and Erajaya Indonesia signed an MoU on increasing investment capital into PT Era Blu Elektronik (Erablue). Hekate also had an MoU with Kilsa Global on applying AI to support a free trade zone in Danang.
Vietnamese and Indonesian businesses explored investment opportunities and strategic partnerships in emerging fields like AI, the digital economy, green energy, electric vehicles, and the Joint Energy Transition Partnership.
They were also engaged in discussions about food security, the Halal industry, education, and marine cooperation, reinforcing commitments on encouraging sustainable development, innovation, and regional partnerships.
Other potential sectors for collaboration include new energy (such as hydrogen), renewable energy, fintech, financial centres, biotechnology, and healthcare.
Over the past years, economic relations between Vietnam and Indonesia have grown strong. In 2024, trade turnover is estimated to reach $16 billion, up 16 per cent from a year ago. The trade turnover is forecast to climb to $18 billion earlier than the previously targeted year of 2028.
