According to the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, the agreements seek to solidify co-operation within the sectors of trade, sea transport, science and technology, argriculture, education and training, aviation, energy, defence and security.
Rousseff will hold bilateral talks with her Vietnamese counterpart Truong Tan Sang and meet with Vietnam Communist Party General Secretary Nguyen Phu Trong and National Assembly Chairman Nguyen Sinh Hung.
The leaders are expected to discuss solutions to boost the two countries’ friendship and comprehensive co-operation, focused on trade, science-technology, argriculture, energy, aviation, defence and security.
Rousseff is also expected to discuss with the Vietnamese leaders about possibilities for Vietnam to increase exportation to Brazil, which is currently facing a scarcity of goods, especially agricultural products.
Other items on the president’s itinirary include attending a Vietnam-Brazil business forum in Hanoi, with the participation of nearly 100 enterprises from both countries.
Last year the two countries’ bilateral trade turnover reached $3.35 billion, up 40 per cent on year. In this year’s first 10 months, the figure reached $3.19 billion, and is expected to hit $4 billion this year.
Brazil has only two valid investment projects in Vietnam, registered at $2.7 million, whilst Vietnam currently has one project in Brazil that manifactures instant noodles.
Vietnam’s exports to Brazil include aquatic products, leather and footwear, cloth and fibre, rubber, electronics, and handi craft products. It imports from Brazil soya beans, wheat flour, paper and paper pulp, and leather materials.
