The nation’s registered and additional capital abroad reached US$14.85 billion and US$4.93 billion, respectively.
In 2014 alone, the MPI licensed 109 Vietnamese-invested projects in 28 countries and territories with a total registered capital of US$1.047 billion and adjusted to add US$739 million for 22 operating projects.
These projects mainly focus on oil and gas, telecommunications, agriculture and forestry in Cambodia with 23 projects (accounting for 21%), Myanmar with 16 ones (14.7%), Laos with 13 ones (12%), the US with 12 ones (11%) and Singapore with nine ones (8.2%).
In 2014, an amount of US$1 billion in Vietnamese capital abroad was realized, bringing the total figure to US$6 billion, accounting for 30.6% of the total overseas registered capital.
The oil and gas industry holds the largest overseas capital with US$2.9 billion, followed by agriculture-forestry with US$660 million, hydro-electricity with US$500 million, telecommunications with US$450.6 million and finance, banking and insurance with US$230 million.
