Puttnam recounted his memory when he, at 20, joined British peace-lovers’ march protesting the war in Viet Nam.
He expressed his pleasure with sound outcomes of UK PM David Cameroon’s visit to Viet Nam while showing his concern about the UK’s 15th ranking among countries and territories investing in Viet Nam, saying that the UK should jump to the 10th to be in par with both sides’ cooperation potential.
The host stressed Viet Nam’s tourism potential, particularly Vietnamese culinary which deeply impressed him at the Milan EXPO 2015 in Italy with a long queue of visitors waiting to try Vietnamese special dishes.
Deputy PM Ninh expressed his gratitude to Puttnam’s appreciation and noted that Viet Nam is boosting economic reforms to take advantage of cooperation opportunities and recovering shortcomings in policies and implementation.
The official proposed the UK Government to share experience in finance, trade and aviation and further cooperation in education and training.
Regarding Viet Nam’s tourism potential, Deputy PM Ninh said that the upcoming Viet Nam Discovery Festival at Potters Fields Park will help promote Viet Nam’s image to UK people and tour operators.
Puttnam also suggested the Vietnamese Govenrment facilitate UK medium and small-sized businesses operating in Viet Nam and affirmed that the UK Government will have policies to create favorable conditions for excellent students to study and live in the UK.
Ninh responded that the Vietnamese Government will address difficulties for UK businesses and expressed his hope the Lord will continue contributing to foster practically the Viet Nam-UK strategic partnership in the future.
As schedule, during his stay in the UK, Deputy PM Ninh will attend the Viet Nam Economic Forum, the Viet Nam-UK Educational Cooperation Forum and the Viet Nam Discovery Festival, as well as meet with Prince Andrew and leaders of the Standard Chartered.
