Typhoon Dianmu weakened and slowed down in a low pressure area after sweeping through Hanoi at 2pm on August 19.

Although the impact of the third tropical storm of the year in Hanoi was considerably weaker than that of the first storm Minirae, it submerged numerous streets, such as Pham Van Dong, Tran Duy Hung, and Nguyen Tuan, where the water level reached 0.4 metre at places and caused traffic congestions all over the city.

In addition, the heavy winds uprooted trees, causing serious property damage. On Hai Ba Trung Street, a large tree toppled and crushed a car.

According to the National Centre for Hydro-Meteorological Forecasting, in the next three to six hours, the low pressure area will move deeper into the northern Red River Delta Region with an average speed of 10-15 kilometres per hour and continue to weaken the storm’s passage.

According to the latest news, one person fell victim to the typhoon in Son La province and two others were injured.
