In 2022, Coteccons introduced the GREEN UP Marathon in Quang Binh, attracting over 2,000 participants. This running event laid an important foundation for the company's commitment to promoting a healthy lifestyle to their community of employees.

This year marks 19 years since Coteccons established itself in Vietnamese market, and was proud to announce the continuation of its GREEN UP marathon journey in Binh Duong last month. The race was held on August 26th and drew nearly 3,000 participants from across the country.

Coteccons - Le Phong Binh Duong Half Marathon 2023 promoted recycling by utilising over 3,000 scaffolds for archways and exhibition areas. Additionally, the medals were environmentally friendly since they were made from recycled materials such as straws, milk cartons, and plastic lids. Green UP Marathon 2023’ runners shirts were also made from nano air-weaving fabric created from recycled materials. Furthermore, Coteccons declared they would contribute trees to Vietnam's green coverage fund on behalf of each runner. By the end of the race, Coteccons had contributed 11,000 trees to areas in need, supporting the Prime Minister's initiative to increase green coverage in Vietnam.

Marathons have an undeniable connection to the world of business, and each race attracts several high-powered businesspeople. Many have noted that innovative ideas and business operation lessons arise while they are deep into a marathon, more so than in stressful boardroom meetings.

There are three common moments that challenge the perseverance of the runners that are analogous to the business world. First is to resist the temptation to stay in bed. Runners must get up, lace up their shoes, and start running. Second is how athletes must keep to their training commitments over an extended period, despite the various priorities and unexpected events in life. Lastly, is how runners not only compete against each other, but also themselves. In other words, how can they find it within themselves to go one better each time than the personal records they have proudly achieved in the past?

"During a race, runners will often feel too tired, and wish to stop, or ask if running is even necessary? Our emotions constantly fluctuate due to fatigue, but determination creates miracles," said Bolat Duisenov, chairman of the Board of Directors of Coteccons.

Mr. Bolat Duisenov, Chairman of Coteccons, points out that these thoughts are similar to those of businesspeople. "The marathon welcomes everyone, but it is also a strict meritocracy. In the marathon, as it is in business, the biggest opponent is often oneself. The finish line welcomes first those with 'determined DNA' and a resilient spirit, those who prepared in the right way," he said.

Coteccons will continue to face its own marathons and challenges in the future as the construction sector undergoes change. Coteccons is aiming to make the GREEN UP marathon an annual event to spread the spirit of green living throughout the community.
