Prime Minister Nguyen Tan Dung will attend the 27th ASEAN Summit in Malaysia from November 21-22.

In addition to holding bilateral meetings with leaders of some nations, Dung and other ASEAN leaders will sign agreements on the establishment of the ASEAN Community – the new historic turning point in ASEAN’s development process.

The leaders will also establish the orientation for ASEAN’s development over the next 10 years. They will discuss the improvement of ASEAN’s operations, and strengthening of the bloc’s external policies in the Eastern Asian region.

The 27th ASEAN Summit will be focused on reviewing and assessing the results the ASEAN Community’s implementation since 2009.

The event will also be used for discussing, approving, and signing many documents. Three agreements will be signed, 20 agreements will be adopted, and the remainders will be recognised.

The three singed documents will include the ASEAN Convention on Anti-Human Trafficking, especially Women and Children, the Kuala Lumpur Declaration on the Establishment of the ASEAN Community 2015, and the Kuala Lumpur Declaration on ASEAN 2025, which will also enclose the ASEAN Community Vision to 2025.

At the 27th ASEAN Summit, the East Sea issue will also be highlighted. Currently, ASEAN is showing its growing concern over recent complicated developments in the East Sea, especially the building of a number of artificial islands. This has been a serious violation of international law and threatens security and peace in the region.
