The three-day tour affirms the importance of the special ties between Viet Nam and Cambodia and aims to foster bilateral cooperation, particularly in the fields of economics, trade and investment.

The traditional relations and comprehensive cooperation between Viet Nam and Cambodia have progressed over the past time.

Both sides have maintained regular exchanges of high-ranking delegations, including PM Hun Sen’s official visit to Viet Nam last December and President of Cambodian National Assembly Heng Samrin’s visit to Viet Nam to attend the ceremony to mark the 35th anniversary of the victory of the Southwest border defense war and the joint victory of Viet Nam and Cambodia over the Khmer Rouge genocidal regime.

The two-way trade ties are also advancing, standing at US$ 3.3 billion in 2012 and about US$ 3.5 billion in 2013.

As of mid 2013, Viet Nam invested in around 130 projects worth over US$ 3 billion in Cambodia, focusing on telecommunication, finance-banking, power development, and industrial plants.

The two sides are positively working with each other to finalize the border demarcation and maker planting in favor of peace, friendship, stability and development.
