Phuc Khang Corporation (PKC) and its CEO Luu Thi Thanh Mau are typical examples of a business that is aware of the role of green buildings in modern society and have strategies to promote them.
The Vietnam Green Building Week 2023 (VGBW) event was held on September 28 in Ho Chi Minh City by the Ministry of Construction.
This year's VGBW attracted more than 1,000 delegates from design consulting, architecture, real estate, construction materials, equipment, technology, electromechanical products, green and smart, energy-saving, and low-emission interior products.
This was an opportunity for policymakers, experts, businesses, consulting units, banks, agencies, international organisations and people working in the construction field to sit together and discuss solutions to promote green transformation in the construction industry.
In Vietnam, the guidelines and policies are consistent with the view that economic development must be associated with environmental protection, economical and effective use of energy, resources, reducing greenhouse gas emissions, and ensuring human health.
Along with the world's green transformation trend after COP 26, many businesses and investors in the construction sector in Vietnam have developed and implemented specific plans and solutions to develop their businesses in a green direction, with low emissions and moving towards carbon neutrality as the target by 2050 that the Government has committed to.
PKC is a green building developer who quickly grasped this general trend and it has long chosen the journey of greening businesses with methodical strategies and practical actions. With more than 14 years of steadfast commitment to the mission of pioneering sustainability, PKC is bringing green living spaces to the Vietnamese community.
PKC's journey to create green buildings is a long-term strategy from building, developing, operating and improving every day. From the early days of developing green buildings, PKC used to find itself alone on this path, but now that is no longer the case.
In the upcoming greening strategy, PKC continues its journey to develop green buildings and continuously improve implemented projects to maintain the best quality of life for the community. The company understands that a green community needs more than a green building but other important factors such as green utilities and green activities.
Therefore, PKC has been implementing research on green urban areas and will apply them in the project development process in the near future in its projects.
One of the strategies that PKC continuously implements is to build up green human resources. This is critical and is one of the prerequisites for developing green buildings in Vietnam.
PKC has early invested in improving knowledge for its staff through internal training courses, annual study and experience tours in Singapore; focusing on young human resources in architecture and urban fields; and a range of Green Study Tour programmes, Green Urban scholarships, Green Summer Design Studio programme. All of those will be sound investments for the sustainable development journey in the construction sector.
After COP 26, activities promoting sustainability and aiming for net-zero are increasingly being promoted. PKC has also developed specific actions to promote the government's net-zero commitment through its key product of green buildings.
Green buildings, energy-efficient buildings, especially projects aiming at neutral carbon or net-zero are also products being researched by PKC for deployment in the near future.
In addition, digital transformation in the built environment is a strategy PKC has been implementing. With the current rate of development of IT, digital transformation will be a significant support for promoting the development of green buildings in particular and the economy in general.
