Chairman Nguyen Sinh Hung arrives in Nay Pyi Taw, starting an official visit to Myanmar

The July 24-26 visit aims to consolidate the time-honored friendship and multifaceted cooperation, and develop the relations between the two legislative bodies into a model of cooperation between Myanmar parliament and other NAs.

So far, the two-way trade between Viet Nam and Myanmar has reached nearly $230 million in 2012 and the figure is expected to fetch $500 million by 2015.

Viet Nam is home to four Myanmar-based investment projects with a total capitalization of $500 million. The two countries have signed a number of economic cooperation agreements.

The seven sessions of the joint committee have focused on specific measures to boost cooperation in various fields ranging from agriculture-forestry-fishery, transport, energy, communications, health care to culture, education, sports, tourism and science and technology.

The two sides have closely coordinated and supported each other at multilateral forums such as Cambodia-Laos-Myanmar-Viet Nam Summit (CLMV), the Greater Mekong Subregion (GMS) program, and the East-West Corridor.
