MJ Group online to profit from merger

Vietnam’s two leading e-commerce websites, shopping www.nhommua.com  and mapping service provider www.diadiem.com, were just merged to found the MJ Group as a new e-commerce firm.

The $60 million investment deal with IDG Ventures Vietnam, German-based Rebate Networks and Russia-based ru-Net made MJ Group to grow into Vietnam’s largest e-commerce and online services firm. Nhommua Hanoi branch office’s director GiaoVo sheds some light on the issue.

What made you to tie-up with the Nhommua site and create MJ Group?

I first joined the DiaDiem Company as a sales director in early 2008. Four years working for the firm was of great importance to me as I had a chance to work with MJ Group chief executive officer Tom Tran and learned valuable experiences.

Initially an ‘outsider’ in the business, I has accumulated a wealth of experience in information technology, online trading, applications on mobiles and the like and realised that I has advantages in market development. Therefore, I hooked into Nhommua right from its dawn and I am happy with the decision.

In Ho Chi Minh City Nhommua is known as one of most successful firms in respect to ‘buying in group’ trading model in Vietnam. What about the Hanoi-based Nhommua development?

One of the greatest challenges to Nhommua in Hanoi’s market is to learn what the customers want and bring them what they need. It is not easy to grab customer trust as the Hanoians are usually straightforward in their emotions when they are unsatisfied with something.

With around 200,000 members, current revenue of Hanoi-based Nhommua is half of that in Ho Chi Minh City. Around 50 per cent of businesses having cooperative ties with nhommua in Hanoi are big trademarks and the remaining 50 per cent are firms meeting our set standards. Corresponding rates should be 70/30 as set in our fresh development trajectory. Our staff members currently exceed 170.

How will the recent www.nhommua.com and www.diadiem.com merger to form MJ Group benefit your Hanoi branch office’s customers as well as business partners?

For Nhommua, not only money, but service quality, suppliers’ quality and customers’ trust are key determinants to our success.

Undeniably, the abovesaid significant investment entails great benefits to Nhommua. For instance, we will create a communications channel to help promote the image of our business partners. I believe with our efforts to bring more benefits to partners, firms would not dare rolling out better and more impressive sales programmes in favour of customers.

How does MJ Group, particularly Nhommua, envisage future growth?

As initially planned, in 2012 Nhommua would open three more branch offices with the ambition these new outlets would gain similar rosy business figures as the Hanoi branch office. Currently, Nhommua offers ‘buying in group’ trading model with a broad range of products and services from big and prestigious trademarks.

We have developed a specialised market analytic team to finds out the demands and new consumption trends of people in diverse areas where we develop.

With our solid leading position in the past year, I believe Nhommua would surmount all difficulties and make great strides in the future.
