More than 250 delegates and 50 professors from Japan, the US, Switzerland, the Republic of Korea and Vietnam are attending the 3rd Solid State Systems Symposium – VLSIs and Semiconductor Related Technologies (4S-2014/AVIC2014) in HCM City.

The three-day event which opened on October 22 includes two main parts: the third Solid State Systems Symposium – VLSIs and Semiconductor Related Technologies (4S-2014) and the 17th International Conference on Analog VLSI Circuits (AVIC 2014).

The biennial conference provides a good venue for domestic scientists, researchers, engineers and students to share experience and skills with international friends all over the world, and calls on universities, institutes and businesses to get involved in the development of VLSI and semiconductor – related technologies.

The 40 papers presented at the conference focused on the development orientation for Vietnam’s semiconductor industry and semiconductor research and education. They also discussed chip design and application, technology and devices, and System-on-Chip.

Japanese experts and professors will share experience in chip packaging and application in Japan.

At the opening ceremony, Phan Thanh Binh, Director of Ho Chi Minh City National University, said in recent years, Vietnam has issued open and transparent policies to attract investment and develop the electronics industry.

HCM City National University realises the importance of the fresh industry and strives to make a breakthrough in training, research and technology transfer in order to apply new technology in reality. This includes Vietnam’s first commercial microchip, SG8V1 designed by Vietnamese engineers.
