Now in its 16th edition, Corporate Knights’ ranking is released after an assessment of 7,395 companies with more than $1 billion in revenue. Among the 2020 Global 100 companies, 49 hail from Europe, 29 from the US and Canada, 18 from Asia, three from South America, and only one representative from the African continent.

Generali’s ambition is to be the life-time partner to its customers, offering innovative and personalised solutions thanks to an unmatched distribution network.

By 2021, Generali set the goal of €4.5 billion ($4.9 billion) in green and sustainable investments and 7-9 per cent growth of gross written premiums in green and social products.

Moreover, in September 2019, Generali issued the first green bond of the European insurance sector for an amount of €750 million ($821 million).

Regarding environmental direct impacts, in 2018, the group chose electric energy from renewable sources for 88 per cent of its total purchased electric energy. Generali's commitment to sustainability is also attested by the numerous sustainability indices in which it is included, such as the Dow Jones Sustainability World Index, the Dow Jones Sustainability Europe Index, MSCI ESG Leaders Indexes, FTSE4Good Europe, and Euronext Vigeo Europe 120.
