Following the Consulate-General’s Gender Equality Conference in 2019, the event highlighted the importance and benefits of gender-inclusive workplace practices and women in leadership, which have proven to improve business profitability and productivity, increase businesss' ability to retain talent, and encourage creativity and innovation.
In a panel discussion moderated by Irene Ohler, co-Founder of Lightpath Leadership, Huynh Buu Quang chief country officer of Deutsche Bank Vietnam; Shuyin Tan, partner of Patamar Capital; and Trent Smith, vice president of Platinum Global shared their experiences about how inclusive gender practices benefit businesses across sectors and organisational levels. Attendees also engaged in an interactive Q&A session after the panel and enhanced professional links through networking sessions.
Australian Consul-General Julianne Cowley made the opening remarks, “The McKinsey Global Institute estimated that equality for women can add $40 billion to the GDP in Vietnam annually by 2025. Australia has been supporting and expanding our engagement with Vietnam on women’s empowerment and gender equality because women are critical to Vietnam’s continued success and economic growth. We are honoured to receive tremendous support from business and community leaders for our annual gender events and we will continue to support efforts to achieve gender equality in Vietnam.”
