On December 22, the ministry got a report from its State budget management unit about Hải’s resignation. He had submitted the letter to Sabeco’s board of directors informing them that he wished to resign from his position as a member of the board.
The ministry will direct the State budget management unit’s response to Hải’s letter in accordance with the laws and the company’s regulations.
The ministry has decided to ask Nguyễn Thành Nam, incumbent Sabeco Deputy General Director, to join the company’s board of directors and be the representative of the company’s State budget capital.
Hải, 29, is the son of Vũ Huy Hoàng, former Minister of Industry and Trade. In November, the Party Central Committee Secretariat ordered disciplinary action against Hoàng on charges of nepotism. Hoàng had appointed Hải as an inspector of Việt Nam National Tobacco Corporation, allowed him to join Sabeco’s board of directors and become its deputy general director.
The 63-year-old, a former member of the Party Central Committee, incorrectly directed and implemented regulations by presenting the Hero of Labour title to PetroVietnam Construction Corporation and rewarding third-class Labour Order to Đặng Vũ Ngoạn, rector of HCM City University of Food Industry.
He has also been accused of not keeping a close check on the ministry’s units, allowing them to break rules related to personnel recruitment, evaluation and appointments.
As per the conclusions drawn by the Party Central Committee’s Inspection Commission, the party committee of the ministry was irresponsible and lax in its leadership and direction, violating a number of regulations, procedures and criteria in personnel work, resulting in serious consequences.
