DPM to tour three American countries

Deputy PM Vu Van Ninh will pay official visits to Canada, Bolivia and Uruguay from December 2-10 to foster ties with the three American countries.

The two-day tour (December 2-3) to Canada will target to mark the 40th anniversary of diplomatic ties between Viet Nam and Canada.

Deputy PM Ninh is expected to meet with the Governor General of Canada, the Canadian Minister of State for Finance, the Speaker of the Senate of Canada, the Speaker of the House of Commons, the Minister of Citizenship and Immigration, and chat with the Canadian business circle.  

The two-way trade turnover touched US$ 1.6 billion in 2012. Canada’s FDI amounted to US$ 4.7 billion in Viet Nam. The two countries have shaken hands in the areas of education-training, labor, science-technology, tourism, regional and international forums.

On December 6-7, Deputy PM Ninh will visit Bolivia, hold talks with his Bolivian counterpart, meet with the President of Bolivia and attend a seminar with Bolivian investors.

The traditional ties between Viet Nam and Bolivia have progressed positively over the past years. There are wide doors for the two sides to tap in the areas of trade, mine ores, fuel and agriculture.  

The Oriental Republic of Uruguay will be the last stop on his three-nation America tour. Mr. Ninh will hold talks with his Uruguayan counterpart and meet with the President of Uruguay as well as congressional leaders. 

The two-way trade volume between Viet Nam and Uruguay climbed from US$ 27 million in 2007 to US$ 71 million in 2012. The two countries owned cooperative potentials in breeding, aquaculture, food processing, sea port building, software and so on.
