Marinus Jan Verbrugge, CEO of Verbrugge International B.V., revealed the company's intentions in a statement at a meeting with Tran Chi Cuong, Vice Chairman of Danang People's Committee, on June 13.

"We are committed to creating extensive connections in the logistics industry for both sides to expand transportation and trade in the future," said Verbrugge.

Founded in 1958, Verbrugge International B.V. has grown into an international full-service logistics provider with a capacity of about 10 million tonnes of goods per year. The company boasts a total operating area of more than 210 hectares and a modern warehouse of 700,000 square metres.

In response, Cuong noted that, "The city of Danang will conduct a bidding process to select strong investors who are capable of implementing the Lien Chieu Port, which is planned to become a significant international shipping gateway in the global transport supply chain."

When completed, the port will compete to attract shipping lines, transport firms, shippers, and branded logistics companies.

Lien Chieu Port will cover 450 hectares in Hoa Hiep Bac ward, Lien Chieu district in Danang. The project consists of two components; Component A requires investment of VND3.42 trillion ($134.3 million) from city and state budgets, with construction commencing at the end of 2022. For Component B, the city is calling for private capital to implement the project.
