Toshiba, maker of electronic components for power plants, said it will supply two 660-megawatt steam turbines and generators to Essar Power Gujarat, a subsidiary of Essar Power.
The Japanese company did not disclose financial details, but Kyodo News said the deal was estimated at more than 10 billion yen ($120 million).
Shipments to the coal-fired power plant will start in 2012, and the first unit is expected to start commercial operations in 2013, Toshiba said.
Toshiba, and many other Japanese engineering firms, have been trying to export infrastructure to foreign markets, particularly in growing economies such as India and China.
